Norfolk LGBT+ Project

Norwich Pride was a fabulous day, so we thought we would use this opportunity to share with you about an important Norfolk based organisation in which we raised money for over Pride weekend.

Norfolk LGBT+ Project is a commendable organisation that embodies inclusivity and strives to make a positive impact in the Norfolk community. As a project specifically dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals from the LGBT+ community, their work is integral in creating a safe and inclusive environment for all. Over the Pride weekend The Garnet raised over £500 for Norfolk LGBT+ Project to ensure they they can continue doing the work that we know is so important to the Norfolk community.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

Norfolk LGBT Project is the county’s only dedicated LGBT health and wellbeing charity, we are committed to providing early intervention and prevention support, education and information to individuals of all age groups in Norfolk and Waveney and we have been doing this since 2007.

WHAT MADE YOU SET UP YOUR OWN BUSINESS? (& Where can we find you?)

Back in 2007, a group of LGBT individuals came together to open up a LGBT youth group because we recognised the need for this, never did we think we would achieve what we have and where we are now in regard to the services that we offer. Our office is Norwich based but we work throughout Norfolk and Waveney. You can visit our website www.norfolklgbtproject.org.uk to see all our services.

Norfolk LGBT+ Project provide lots of material and information available to everyone, to create an inclusive environment

WHO IS PART OF YOUR TEAM?

We are a small team but passionate about the difference that we all make, we have 3 full time and 7 part time staff and approximately 20 volunteers who help facilitate our drop in groups or are Trustees for the charity.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?

To continue what we are doing, making sure that those who need support have access to the right support. Funding is also tight but its thanks to those who support us by donations and fundraising that help us continue.

WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT THE AREA YOU LIVE IN? (E.G. Favourite things about Norwich/Norfolk, places to visit, community...)

I live in North Norfolk and live in the country but I love that Norwich city has something to offer everyone from food, culture, arts. It really is a fine city.
